If you're new here, welcome! We are a colourful community of believers with large vision and big dreams, who love Jesus and love our world. What Jesus did and established at the Cross is very good news. In fact it’s scandalous it is so good! He has forgiven our sins, declared man innocent and cancelled any concept of distance between God and man. It is this message of glad tidings we feel compelled to preach because His unfathomable love has captivated us. Read more >>
testimony - how God sets you up for good things
Kerren Laycock | 15 April 2014
In January I gave a testimony about how God sets you up for good things, even when you’re not paying attention.  There was a job in my current company that I wanted to apply for that, for all intents and purposes I should not have ever been considered for, but I was.
I applied for the position and 2 weeks ago I received a call from the UK office of our Firm offering me the job.  I am thrilled and excited and overwhelmed by God’s goodness. In my new position I will have influence on our HR strategy and how we treat our employees and coach our leadership in 88 different countries across Europe, Middle East, India and Africa.
Here’s why this moment in my life feels so significant to me.   This is one of those moments, where God’s goodness overwhelms me and it’s so important in these moments to stop and take it all in.  Here are some of the things I love about this story;

1.        God’s love breaks performance mentality! I did not work, struggle, strive or suffer for this position.  I was born and raised into a performance mentality and even when I was born again, I was born again right back into it within the charismatic movement, so for me, it’s all about reward for hard work and suffering; beg God enough, show Him you mean it and maybe He will throw you a bone.  But this job quite literally fell in my lap. This is so significant! God really wants good things for us. He is quick to respond to our needs and he provides for us over and above what is necessary.  These moments in our lives break the performance mentality that still lingers in our thoughts.

 2.       God makes all things good!  “You are not university material”, that was about the most career advice my dad gave me.  Of course I believed him and my behaviour followed suit so I didn’t make great choices in my student years.  I do not have any HR or business qualifications.  I don’t even have a degree.  I started my working career as a shop assistant.  My first tithe was less than R200.  There was a time in my life that I didn’t have enough money for toothpaste! A psychologist once diagnosed me with “zombie syndrome” meaning you are living but really just waiting to die.  I suffered through grief, depression, anxiety and addictions. My future was not bright.  By the world’s yard stick, I don’t measure up! Now this uneducated, previously-broken girl finds herself surrounded daily by CA’s, MBA’s, CIMA’s and CFA’s, talking through business strategy with CEO’s and FDs.  I wake up happy, full of memories that make my heart deeply content and hope for the day and the future ahead.  I live with a solid sense of purpose and destiny.  Fear has no control over my life anymore!  It has taken a long road of deep healing to make me free enough to take this step with Him and I am so thrilled to be here!   All the glory belongs to Jesus and His complete work on the cross by which we are saved, healed and delivered.

what is a long meal?
Nicole van Niekerk | 10 February 2014
In the early years of Central Parks we used to every so often all get together for a meal. We called these 'long meals' because they had no agenda other than a time to connect with friends, eat good food and build community. The evenings would often also revolve around a theme. They were such fun times in the life of the church!

The good news is we are resurrecting this tradition at Central Parks but in a new form.
We have grown considerably since those early days which makes gathering all together in one home way more difficult.

So what we are going to do is on Sunday 9 March launch the new look 'long meal'. How it works is if you are available for this Sunday lunch then you write your name down on the list (you can signup online also). You only have until Sunday 23 February to get your name down. At 9am on Monday 24 February we will do a draw and randomly allocate you to a host for the lunch. That host, with at least a week's notice, will contact you with the theme for the lunch, the address where the meal will take place as well as what you need to bring. All the meals start promptly at 1pm. Kids and friends most welcome.

The long meal is for us such a great opportunity to build family and deep connection.

Don't miss out!! SIGN UP HERE

Here's to an incredible bountiful 2014 to you all!!
Grant Flaum | 15 January 2014
Hi everybody

Happy new year! Hope you had a great festive season and some good R&R.

It was so good to gather again this last Sunday after a long December break. Worship was incredible. And a great time to re-connect with each other over a cuppa (not to mention Rosie's fabulous brownies).

Here's to an incredible bountiful 2014 to you all!!

Lisa and I are carrying so much in our hearts for this year. There is so much that Central Parks has come to be as a community over the last 7 years: a place of intimate worship, authentic community, a hunger for His presence, the journey towards wholeness, plunging the depths of this glorious gospel, a strongly prophetic mantle and freedom in Christ, to mention a few. We never want to lose or neglect these 'cultures' which underpin who we are as a people. Instead we want to steward and nurture as best we can what God has entrusted to us (download last Sunday's sermon for more of my heart on this).

a healing testimony
Lindsay Hopwood | 16 September 2013
On Tuesday last week my domestic worker sent me a message that she was in hospital having her appendix out. Yet she pitched up on Thursday.  She said that she had gone to hospital because her stomach was so distended and uncomfortable. As she looked 5 months pregnant they took blood tests and did a pregnancy test. She was definitely not pregnant and they scheduled the op for Friday. She left the hospital because she had no pain. Like some others who have testified, I had become discouraged about praying for the sick with no results so instead of praying I set up an appointment for her to see my doctor! She went away and then came back and said she did not want to go to the doctor as her uncle had "prophesied" that her stomach would grow and the doctors would not be able to help her.

a sozo testimony
Ailie Baumann | 02 September 2013
I used to be a Christian who loved Jesus passionately, read my Bible, prayed, did the Christian things until one day I read a statement that was simple but intensely intimate. This statement hit my heart like a huge meteor crashing into the earth's ground. Here it is

"Jesus is the kindest person I know." - Graham Cooke

In that moment my heart faced Jesus and with heartfelt desire cried out " I don't know that about you. I need to experience you, Jesus, as the kindest person." I was undone because I realized that I loved a God I didn't really know intimately. Did I know him, yes. Did I hear and see Him, yes. Did we have a relationship, yes but not a Love Affair. My heart began to ache for a Love Affair with the Lover of my Soul. It would take roughly 18 months to 2 years for this love affair to become a courtship.
I am not going to go into the details of what had to occur in that time because I believe it will detract from my purpose which is to entice you into a reality of His passionate love for you.  I knew what God had to say about Himself and me in the Bible but I didn't really know what He thought about me. Its one thing to be well-versed in the Bible which is powerful and important but its a completely higher dynamic and power in experiencing God and His love for you. It is nothing that I have ever experienced before. It  is gentle, tender, strong, secure, passionate love. When you encounter love, you are changed forever.
