...and the deaf hear!  E-mail

God loves people and Jesus came to set people free and destroy the works of the enemy. Love isn’t a theory, love looks like something. The gospel looks like something. To the hungry it looks like food, to the broken it looks like healing and wholeness, to the deaf it looks like hearing. Sympathy is nice but God’s love carries power that intervenes in situations and releases God’s reality into manifestation. We persisted with these kids because love looks like something. I am convinced about God’s love towards people and His love is powerful. Jesus wouldn’t say to the deaf, “I love you” and not show it. We were made for such a time as this. Which is easier to say, “Your sins are forgiven” or “rise up and walk?” Healing in the body is the proof that people are already forgiven. Thank you Jesus that by Your stripes we were healed. We all carry this dead raising Spirit in us and He wants out!

A couple of months ago I was driving with Grant and saw a few students using sign language with each other on the side of the road. Grant mentioned that they were from a deaf school just across the street. “I want to get in there”, I told him. I mentioned the deaf school to Ryan a little while ago as well and we had dreamed about it. Imagine what would happen if students from the deaf school began hearing again and speaking again? So last week when the team from Bethel Church was here, we organized an outreach to Rosebank Mall, and while we were there, we happened to see a few students at the mall, signing to each other.

We went up to them, and I typed on my blackberry “Can we pray for you to hear again”. They said yes. Ryan prayed for a girl and she began to hear! He spent a few minutes with her and she could definitely hear. Her eyes were full with tears and shock. Then he also prayed for this girl to speak and sure enough she began to speak. She started repeating what he was saying and answering his questions. It was amazing. She began to tell her friends as well what had happened. I prayed for some other boys and saw very little improvement in those who were fully deaf and a little improvement in those who were only partially deaf.

I began to pray for another boy and after a couple of times with no results I decided to look in his ear for some reason. I saw that where the hole usually goes into the head there was skin covering the hole. I prayed and after some time this boy began to hear through the ear that was fully closed (and sealed)! He was so happy and shocked. The smile of someone who has encountered God is priceless. It reflects His smile over them. I think another girl was prayed for by the others as well and was hearing and speaking too!

There were lots of students around who had come after school. They were standing back watching this phenomenon, most were scared to come close. Some others came around as they saw what was happening. The security told us we couldn’t do this in the mall so we went outside with them. There were at least 20 students around at that time and probably 30 over the hour and a half we were there. Most didn’t come close but saw their friends getting their hearing for the first time ever.

When we went outside with kids I prayed for a boy who could hear a small amount in one ear and had a hearing aid in the other. I asked him (with my hands) to remove the hearing aid. I prayed, took my hands off his ears and snapped my finger by the ear that had the hearing aid. He jumped from shock, completely startled and then began snapping his own finger beside his ear with a look of complete wonder on his face. Then he started slapping the wall with his hand wide eyed because he could hear it! I then prayed for his speech and he began copying what I was saying almost perfectly. He is 13 years old and has grown up not hearing and speaking. He also began answering my questions to the staff that had come out of the restaurant. The staff got healed of different pains in their bodies; a headache left, sore shoulders were healed, a leg grew out in front of all of them and others just wanted prayer because they could see it actually works and God loves and cares about them. We have video of this boy Leo speaking for the first time. So then I took Leo and told him that he was going to help me pray for his friends now.

We grabbed one younger boy who could hear basically nothing in either of his ears. I got Leo to place his hand on the boy’s ears and we prayed. Leo repeated after me, “Jesus-open-his-ears!” I think we prayed a couple of times and this boy started hearing to the point where I was clapping behind his back and he was imitating my claps. The others then prayed for the guys who I originally prayed for with minimal improvement and those guys got their hearing back in a phenomenal way. They stuck around us for the whole time and right at the end were healed. Those guys listened to music for the first time through someone’s ipod. How amazing is that? We have video of some of this as well. On Friday night we were in a meeting with different churches at the Bethel School gathering and I shared this testimony. Deaf people were healed as we prayed for them.

I would say that in total about 7 students began hearing to some degree. It’s just amazing what God has done. Can you imagine what is going to happen at that school?

I received a sms from one of the girls that night which read: “Hi! Do you knw me? Its me alinah. I’m deaf when u pray at me cn speak nd heard. When I’m arrived at hme my mother cry nd shocked me can speak nd hear. I’m wnt to thnx u.”

I responded, “hi alinah. That is great! God loves you so much. When can I see you again? I told my friends what happened. We are all so happy. How are your friends”

She replies, “My friend nym mapula she can hear anything whn m called her nym.”

Leo replied to me saying, “My family is very happy thank God.”

"Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you." And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the wasteland. The parched ground will become a pool, and springs of water will satisfy the thirsty land. Marsh grass and reeds and rushes will flourish where desert jackals once lived". Isaiah 35:4-7 NLT
